KARACHI:

Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (Szabist) organised a seminar highlighting the significance of volunteerism on March 22.

Social activist Dr Ehsan Mirza and paediatrician Dr Karim Khanbhai spoke about their social welfare project in Tharparkar during the event. The two are working to provide good quality education to students of Tharparkar.

Dr Khanbhai said that it is important to instill good values in children. Young people should also give importance to humanitarian work, he claimed. If you want to achieve something big in your life then you have to come out from your comfort zones and take risks, remarked Dr Mirza. He spoke about people in Tharparkar using solar energy to run their appliances and that we should learn from them and help them as much as we can. The speakers mentioned a NGO which helps the people living in Tharparkar via projects including provision of clean water, establishing a hospital and improving literacy rates.
