Nationalist leader: JST-Karnani chief shot dead
The body was handed over to the family without a post-mortem on their request

The chief of his own Jeay Sindh Tehreek (JST) faction, Shafi Karnani, was shot dead in Thatta on Wednesday. Police said the JST-Karnani leader was attacked by two unidentified assailants on Makli Bypass. He died on the way to a hospital in Makli. Dr Abbas Gopang, the hospital’s medical superintendent, said Karnani sustained pellet wounds in his head, chest and shoulders. The body was handed over to the family without a post-mortem on their request. Thatta SHO Asghar Shah said the killers had used a shotgun, adding that police have recovered three cartridges. JST-Karnani is one of several factions split from Jeay Sindh Tehreek of late Sindhi nationalist leader GM Syed after his death.
