LAHORE:

“Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave rights to the have-nots of our country,” Pakistan Peoples Party Lahore president Samina Khalid Ghurki said on Sunday.

Ghurki and PPPLahore information secretary Faisal Mir saw off party workers who have left for Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in various convoys to attend Bhutto’s 37th death anniversary.

“Bhutto sacrificed his life for democracy. Following his teachings, the PPP has always opposed dictators,” Ghurki said. Mir said that 37 years after Bhutto was executed, not a single political worker in the country wanted to associate himself with General Ziaul Haq. On the other hand, he said, thousands of people from across the country travelled to Bhutto’s mausoleum every year. “He is the hero of almost all the politicians in Pakistan,” he said. The PPP workers left on buses, trains and cars decorated with party flags and flexes.
