Unclear target: Two suspected militants arrested in Hayatabad

The police official added the suspects were riding a bike, which was later impounded

PESHAWAR:


Hayatabad police arrested two suspected militants and seized two 9-mm pistols, two hand grenades, an improvised explosive device (IED) as well as a bike on Saturday.


Speaking to The Express Tribune, ASP Hassan Afzal said they acted on an intelligence tip-off and conducted a raid after which they arrested both men.


“Two 9-mm pistols, two hand grenades and an IED weighing 2.5 kilogrammes were also seized from their possession and confiscated,” he said.


The police official added the suspects were riding a bike, which was later impounded.


Afzal said the suspects were currently under interrogation.


“We are not sure about their target yet but they are being interrogated,” he said. They were nabbed but their names were not disclosed.
