Educational, scientific collaboration: Pakistan, Belarus agree to enhance cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to enhance their cooperation in educational, scientific and technological fields.

A delegation of the Republican Institute for Vocational Education (RIVE) Belarus headed by RIVE Rector Prof Arkady Shklyar visited the Higher Education Commission Secretariat on Friday.

The two sides agreed that Pakistan and Belarus have many similar priorities for higher education and both the countries need to synergize their potential in addressing future educational, scientific and technological challenges, said a press release.

It was agreed to strengthen cooperation in academic, vocational, engineering and science areas.



HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed said that Pakistan and Belarus have an agreement at the government level for academic collaboration. He informed the delegation that establishment of three new vocational and skill development universities, one each in Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, were in the pipeline.

Prof Shklyar informed the HEC chairman that the RIVE’s focus on different education systems. “We have initiated mutual cooperation initiatives with various international organizations.” He also explained the ongoing projects of RIVE on skill development, vocational training, energy.

Dr Mukhtar expressed said the two sides may also exchange groups of vice chancellors and students for educational tours.
