Beyond malpractice: Ehtesab will take corrupt leaders to task, says JI K-P chief

Mustaq Ahmed Khan says country in debt because of few politicians

JAMRUD: Corrupt leaders will be taken to task once the Ehtesab Commission investigates their activities, Jamaat-e-Islami provincial chief Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said on Friday.

He was speaking at a campaign organised by JI Khyber Agency chapter in Jamrud, Khyber Agency. A peace rally was organised in the region as part of the party’s corruption-free Pakistan initiative. The event was attended by a large number of party activists.

The provincial chief vowed to ensure peace and stability in the country, saying the country finds itself in debt due to the corrupt practices of a few politicians.  “However, JI plans to rid the country of corrupt leaders,” he said. “Our party workers are not corrupt and want other parties not to engage in malpractice.”

Against FCR

Other JI leaders at the rally raised their voice against the Frontier Crimes Regulations. Many of them said it was a “non-religious law” that should be abolished to maintain peace and ensure the rights of tribespeople are protected.

They also demanded tribal areas either be integrated with K-P or be made part of the Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (Pata) and be provided a seat in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

They also pressed the government to announce a suitable package to restore infrastructure in the tribal belt. JI leaders also insisted NAB should extend its reach to Fata.
