Medical journalism: Three-day conference to start at UHS today

Guest speakers include Iranian Journal of Public Health editor Prof MB Rokni and Dr Tika Ram from Bhutan

The third national conference of Pakistan Association of Medical Editors (PAME) is starting at the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Thursday (today). The three-day conference is being organised in collaboration with the Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME) and the Health Research Advisory Board. Its theme is Professionalism and Medical Journal Editors. More than 300 editors, editorial staff, reviewers, referees of biomedical journals, academicians and medical writers will participate in the event.

The programme includes keynote lectures, seminars, panel discussions and five workshops on medical writing, publication ethics, editorship, incorporating technology into medical journalism and peer review for editors, reviewers and authors.

A wide range of topics such as research integrity, ethical issues in medical journal editing, role of national regulatory bodies, practical issues in medical editing, authors’ and editors’ rights and social responsibilities of medical journalism will be discussed. Guest speakers include Iranian Journal of Public Health editor Prof MB Rokni and Dr Tika Ram from Bhutan.
