The Sindh High Court directed on Monday the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor to file comments about an inquiry initiated against the provincial minister for population welfare, Syed Ali Mardan Shah, in an alleged land encroachment case.
Headed by Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh, the bench also extended the interim pre-arrest bail till April 26, granted earlier to the minister.
The Pakistan Peoples Party leader, who had won the election from PS-70 Umerkot-II (Old Mirpurkhas-VII) had approached the high court seeking bail in connection with an inquiry initiated by the NAB against him in a land encroachment case.
NAB had alleged that Shah had encroached state land in district Umerkot, with the help of co-accused Bhuro Mal, Sanjar Mehar and another. All of them filed separate applications seeking bail before arrest. On the last hearing, the court had granted them protective bail before arrest to enable them to appear before the NAB for questioning.
