Not maintainable: Petition seeking FIR against Aziz dismissed

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed an application seeking registration of a criminal case against Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Aziz.
Zaki reached the high court after a sessions court dismissed his application a few days ago observing that the complainant had no locus standi for registration of FIR. The court had, however, stated in its order that “the order shall not create any hindrance in the way of federal government for registration of FIR, if so desired”.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed an application seeking registration of a criminal case against Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Aziz.
Syed Khurram Zaki, a civil society member, had approached the court requesting it to direct the police to register an FIR against Aziz, his wife and students of Jamia Hafsa for having pledged allegiance to Islamic State terrorist group.
Zaki reached the high court after a sessions court dismissed his application a few days ago observing that the complainant had no locus standi for registration of FIR. The court had, however, stated in its order that “the order shall not create any hindrance in the way of federal government for registration of FIR, if so desired”.
