The pitch for all important India-Australia World T20 encounter has been altered to compliment spinners on Indian team management’s request, Hindustan Times reported.

According to a BCCI official, India were not in favour of playing on the same track on which Pakistan and Australia vied on Friday.

“The game was scheduled to be played on a pitch which would have played similar to the one that was used for the Pakistan-Australia match. But India weren’t happy and have now requested a change,” the official said.

“Now, the pitch that they have chosen will assist spin and maybe inconsistent bounce.”

Previously, Indian team management also altered the pitch in Nagpur where India lost to New Zealand, but the move backfired when hosts couldn’t cope with Kiwi spinners Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi.
