Celebs losing their mind over a cricket match

Our celebs should remember, when on a public platform, they should behave appropriately

Geographically, we may be neighbours, but in almost all other senses we are rivals. And so, whenever there is a Pakistan vs India cricket match, we lose our senses. News travels faster than expected, thanks to social media.

Having said that, they say everything is fair in love and war; but this time round, it seemed that the celebs from Pakistan literally lost track of time and space.

We Pakistanis crossed all limits, of deciding how this cricket match or cricket 'war' needed to be won over. Chasing your dream is good, but stooping so low, just to win, is not worth it.

But our so-called 'celebs' — those who should shine better on a public platform — lost their senses in the crowded place that was the stadium. From Shafquat Amanat Ali singing to his own tune of the national anthem at the stadium and later back-tracking on it, to Qandeel Baloch promoting her wild theatrics of brass feminism, to Salman Ahmad of Junoon promising a free concert at the Wagah border, if Pakistan won. Sadly not only did we lose — we lost badly.

Let common sense prevail for once.

Our celebs should remember, when on a public platform, they should behave appropriately. Please stay within limits and don’t go overboard with assertions.

Celebs are followed the world over, for whatever gimmicks they perform, as their fans believe in them. But sadly, setting such indecent and low standards for winning a cricket match? Grow up!

Grow up for the sake of your country, grow up for you are the true nationals of a country, grow up because people follow you with a heart and soul and when you stoop that low, you let your fans down.

Instead of setting an example, you have become a laughing stock of the town, nay the country.
