According to data compiled by the office of the ombudsman, from 1998 to March 2016, the ombudsman received 7,973 maladministration complaints against the housing ministry.
However, 30 of those cases are pending while the remaining complaints have been disposed of.
The data was compiled in order to review pending complaints against the ministry. Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis Hafiz Ahsan Ahmed Khokhar said that the highest number of complaints filed was 1,208 in the year 2000.
He said that under the directions of Federal Ombudsman Salman Faruqui, efforts were being made to ensure that no complaint older than 45 days was pending.
According to Khokhar, this is the first time in the country’s history that one window facilitation desks have been established in all major Pakistani airports for facilitating overseas Pakistanis travelling to and from Pakistan.
He claimed that over 116 Pakistani missions abroad had been directed to fix a day to hear complaints and take decisions on the spot.
