Model town killings: Three more witnesses record statements

The hearing was adjourned for March 24.

LAHORE: Three witnesses recorded their statements on Tuesday in an anti-terrorism court hearing the June 2014 Model Town violence case. Saeed Ahmad Bhatti, Hafiz Muhammad Razzaq and Munir Hussain said that policemen had opened fire at Idara Minhajul Quran activists. ATC Judge Khawaja Zafar Iqbal is hearing the case, filed by Idara Minhajul Quran against the prime minister, the chief minister and the law minister for allegedly ordering the killings of 14 people on June 17, 2014. Bhatti said that officials deputed at the main gate of Idara Minhajul Quran had ordered policemen to open fire. Razaaq said that Sabzazar SHO Amir Saleem and several other policemen had opened fire on activists protesting outside the residence of Dr Tahirul Qadri. Hussain said that two trainee ASIs, Hassan Ali and Burhan, had shot at the activists from the roofs of nearby houses. The hearing was adjourned for March 24.
