KARACHI:

The Sindh government has decided to ask the federal government in the forthcoming Council of Common Interest (CCI) meeting to begin the census from Sindh if there is a shortage of required troops for conducting the census across the country simultaneously.

The decision was taken in a meeting held under Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House on Tuesday.

Upcoming CCI meeting: CM wants census discussed on Mar 25

The CM said the previous CCI meeting was informed that the required troops were not available for the supervision of the enumeration exercise, which was to be conducted all over Pakistan simultaneously. The Sindh government had decided that the federal government would be asked to conduct census across the country at the same time, but if there is any problem then they will ask the government to begin the census from Sindh. Even then if there is a shortage of staff or armed forces, then the census can be started from one of the six divisions of the province, the Sindh government decided during the meeting.
