Memoirs: Book on Syed Fida Hassan launched

Speakers pay rich tribute to the civil servant who served in a number of positions

ISLAMABAD: Speakers at a launching ceremony of a book `Pakistan- The Promise of Early Years’, carrying memoirs of a civil servant during the creation of Pakistan stressed that civilian supremacy is inevitable for survival of the country.

The book carrying memoirs of a civil servant, Syed Fida Hassan was launched at Islamabad Club in a ceremony attended by various experts and literary men.

Pakistan could regain its glory only if it rediscovered its core values of sovereignty of the people, inviolability of the constitution and supremacy of civilian rule.

The speakers also paid tribute to the services of Syed Fida Hassan who served the country at various positions dedicatedly and rendered immense contribution.

The speakers said Hassan was impartial, kind and patient and the book is a historic treasure in which the writer has discussed all aspects of his life touching every sector including agriculture, law and politics during the eras he lived in.

Former civil servants, Roedad Khan, Shoaib Sultan Khan, Kamaluddin Azfar were among the speakers. Syed Fida Hassan was born on December 4, 1908 at Dera Ghazi Khan, Syed Fida Hassan studied at Rang Mahal Mission School Lahore and Government College Lahore. He received a Masters Degree from Government College in 1930. His service career extended from 1934 to 1969 during which he held various posts in the federal and Punjab government.
