RAWALPINDI: A local court in Rawalpindi on Thursday sentenced a man to death in a sexual assault-murder case. Khawaja Muhammad, a resident of Sadiqabad, was arraigned on charges of killing his six-year-old nephew after sexually assaulting him on July 5, 2013. Additional District and Sessions Judge Ghulam Farid Qureshi sentenced him to death on the murder charge and life imprisonment on the sexual assault charge. The convict has also been fined of Rs100,000 by the court. Jamil Khattak and Ehsan Satti, representing the victim’s family, argued that the convict took unfair advantage of his relationship with the victim and later killed him to cover up the initial crime.
