PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court restrained the Lady Reading Hospital administration from taking action against some of the facility’s senior teachers who challenged appointments against different posts. The order will stand till further instructions.

The court also extended a stay order through which it restrained the administration from appointing professors, associate professors and assistant professors.

The bench, comprising Justices Yahya Afridi and Roohul Amin, was hearing a writ petition filed by office bearers of LRH teachers’ association through its president Dr Musa Kalim. The petitioners were represented by counsel Mian Mohibullah Kakakhel.

Kakakhel informed the bench that the LRH administration advertised vacancies for different cadres, but education criteria and experience were not mentioned. He told the court, “Anyone from anywhere could be appointed on the vacancies, therefore LRH senior teachers and doctors have reservations over it.”

He maintained that the administration was planning to take action against the petitioners for challenging the appointments in court and requested the bench to restrain the administration from doing so. However, LRH counsel Shakeel Ahmad argued that the posts were not for recruitment of professors, associate professors and assistant professors.

He informed the bench that the advertisements were published for hiring consultants and this would not affect the rights of teachers.
