LAHORE:

Effective communication skills greatly help students secure good jobs after studies, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Vice Chancellor Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid said on Wednesday.

He was addressing a workshop titled: Cover Letters and Email Writing, organised by the Department of Humanities, in collaboration with UET Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC).

“Effective communication skill is an essential prerequisite for any job. Students must participate in writing workshops to improve their writing skills. The transitional phase between obtaining a degree and getting a job is always crucial and challenging. Students can overcome this challenge through dedication, commitment and by striving for excellence. Students should be familiar with modern technology for securing good job placements,” he said. Human resources consultant Humaira Rasheed said that good communication skills ensured better positions for workers in any organisation. She said that a well-written cover letter and CV could improve a candidate’s chances of getting the job. QEC Director Ghulam Abbas Anjum, Deputy Director Shahida Parveen and Assistant Professor Alia Naushahi and a large number of students were present.
