ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways is planning to establish green belts and parks on the railway land located along rail tracks, said sources in the Ministry of Railways. The project is being executed with the help of the City District Government Lahore and the Parks and Horticulture Authority. According to the plan, nurseries would be established on the railway land in accordance with the vision of the provincial government. Sources said if necessary all encroached pieces of land situated near populated areas would be retrieved, otherwise, houses along the tracks would be given a 10-feet way. “The department fighting the war against encroachment mafia has recovered land worth billions of rupees,” they added. “The chief minister has approved the project and its implementation will start after documents are completed.”
