Illegal Acts: Customs officials foil smuggling bids

The spokesperson said that the bags were on flight number EK-618 from Dubai

KARACHI: Officials of the Pakistan Customs posted at Jinnah International Airport foiled a smuggling bid by recovering mobile phones worth million of rupees on Monday. The Customs spokesperson said that four unclaimed bags were seized and around 950 mobile phones, worth millions of rupees, were found in the unclaimed bags. The spokesperson said that the bags were on flight number EK-618 from Dubai. A case has been registered and officials are looking for the smugglers. Earlier, Customs officials arrested a Pakistani citizen and recovered foreign currency from his possession at the airport. Customs officials said that the accused, Rasool Buksh, was arrested for attempting to travel to Dubai with 225,700 dirhams in a concealed pocket. The spokesperson said that the accused was scheduled to board an Emirates flight to Dubai when he was arrested on a tip-off. A case has been registered while further investigation was underway.
