Inquiry against Altaf: Sarfaraz Merchant agrees to visit Pakistan

The London-based businessman will arrive in the country to record his statement before an FIA committee

ISLAMABAD: Sarfaraz Merchant has agreed to visit Pakistan to record his statements regarding allegations against leadership of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Earlier during the day, interior minister directed the FIA to address concerns raised by the businessman to probe the allegations against Altaf Hussain's links with the Indian spy agency RAW.

Merchant agreed on Monday to arrive in the country on a mutually agreed date and record his statement before a committee, sources in the agency told The Express Tribune.

Earlier during the day, the London-based businessman denied having issued statements regarding the MQM chief's alleged links with India'spy agency.

FIA seeks Kamal, Merchant's help to probe allegations against MQM

The FIA had contacted Mustafa Kamal and Merchant, seeking cooperation to probe allegations against the MQM leadership.

On March 1, the Karachi-based trader accused the party of involvement in money laundering, criminal activities and links with RAW.

Similar allegations were levelled by the former Karachi mayor, who has now launched his own political party.

Ashraf | 8 years ago | Reply I really appreciate Genral Raheel Shareef step to irredicate terrorism from Pakistan . The nation of Pakistan put their trust only in Pak Army. The polititicin may never be trusted and good thing operation against corruption is the need of Pakistan . The operation is the only way to make a new set up and operation must be conducted in all Goverment sector and bodies specially in Police and Custom FBR and other departments. The image of Pakistani citizen has so poor and really green passport are hated in western world . Every Pakistani shuould need to recover his image by showing his sincerity with the country. Pakistan is a Heaven on this earth but we never believe it we only appreciate admire another country where nothing with to do . but why I ask ?
