A man who was allegedly a drug addict was booked for the murder of his wife in Taxila after she refused to give him money to buy more drugs.


According to the police, Ijaz Ahmed, a resident of Asifabad, demanded money from his wife Begum Jan, and when she told him she did not have any, he beat her to death with a stick.


Ahmed fled the house soon after. The police began searching for him after the victim’s family lodged an FIR. The victim was a mother of four.


Meanwhile, a man was killed allegedly over an old enmity in the HMC road area of Taxila. According to the police, Jihad Ali was walking through the area when assailants targeted him and killed him on the spot. The police suspected that the victim may have become target of an old enmity.


Meanwhile, a motorcycle rickshaw driver was killed by a speeding Mardan-bound passenger van on GT Road near Bhattar Mor in the Wah Saddar area. The van driver fled the scene lood. The body was handed over to relatives after a postmortem at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Taxila. The police have registered a case.
