LAHORE:

Energy conservation is an effective and applicable tool to reduce the current gap between demand and supply of natural gas, said Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) Managing Director Amjad Latif.

Addressing the 2nd National Seminar on 'Energy Conservation' arranged by the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Department of Chemical Engineering, Latif said it was the responsibility of consumers to utilise energy resources prudently by keeping energy-saving appliances at home, industries and other places.

"The universities should come up with innovative ideas and explore new sectors of research," he said.

He was of the view that projects for gas import like the LNG supply deal with Qatar would increase the volume of gas and help beat demand in the years to come.
