Kidnapping case: Six remanded to police custody

The police had sought eight days remand

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday granted physical remand of six men who were arrested for kidnapping a six-year-old boy in the jurisdiction of Mandra Police Station.


ATC Special Judge Asif Majeed Awan handed the men over to the Mandra police for six days. The police had sought eight days remand.

The police informed the court that they arrested Hafiz Muhammad Azeem, a prayer leader at a mosque in Firash village, and the alleged mastermind, Bilal Masood, who provided the SIM used to make ransom demand calls to the boy’s father, Hafiz Muhammad Sajjad. The other arrested men are Azeem’s brother-in-law Hafiz Nisar Hussain, also a prayer leader, Hafiz Amir Shahzad, and Hafiz Munir Ahmed alias Kasuri. Suspect Hidayat Shah is still at large.
