KARACHI: Lawyers observed a strike and boycotted court proceedings on Tuesday in protest against the attack on a sessions court in Charsadda on Monday. The strike was called by the Pakistan Bar Council — the supreme body of lawyers in the country. The legal fraternity condemns the incident and urges authorities to bring to book those responsible for the carnage, advocate Saleem of the Karachi Bar Association told The Express Tribune on Tuesday. The strike symbolises our protest against terrorists as well as security agencies’ lapses that led to the incident, he added. In the city courts, no case could be taken up and under-trial prisoners brought for proceedings were sent back to jail. At the Sindh High Court, all cases were adjourned, while important ones were heard inside the judges’ chambers.
