Security update

Hafizullah, after welcoming the participants, briefed them about security measures taken by the university in its various institutions after the terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda.

He pointed out serious threats had been received by educational institutions. He informed the meeting that in August, barbed wires and iron sheeting on the boundary walls, CCTV cameras, pop-up barriers and emergency sirens were put in place at the main campus.

According to Hafizullah, two retired army officers were also appointed on a contractual basis as security officers at the main campus as well as in KIMS and KIDS, Kohat. The Senate expressed satisfaction over the security measures and hoped foolproof arrangements were in place.

Towards reforms: Three-day medical education conference concludes

The VC apprised participants about the two recent major conferences held by KMU on advances in cancer and on medical education. He said organising both these conferences was a major challenge for KMU.

Hafizullah said their objective was to not only meet these challenges, but organise such conferences in a better manner.

Later on in the meeting, KMU approved the affiliation of NMC in Nowshera, FHC Hayatabad and allotted seats for various institutes under its Doctor of Physical Therapy Programme.
