Rumours made the rounds that Director for Investigation Colonel (retd) Amjad resigned and that he had cited the constant changes in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission Act, 2014 as his reasons.
A spokesperson for the commission told The Express Tribune Amjad held a senior position at the counter-terrorism department (CTD), who was transferred to the commission. Amjad—a newly inducted official—has yet to attend any meetings at the commission.
While confirming the news of his resignation, the official said Amjad came a day ago and said he could not work here and tendered his resignation. When Amjad was contacted, he claimed he never quit and would soon take charge at his new office.
The Express Tribune asked the EC spokesperson to comment on Amjad’s statement. The spokesperson insisted the director has indeed tendered his resignation, which has been accepted. The spokesperson claimed documentary evidence of Amjad’s resignation was available with the EC.
In February, EC’s Director General Lieutenant General (retd) Hamid Khan resigned after the provincial government decided to amend the Ehtesab law.
