Patron’s Trophy: Aslam’s double century takes SBP to 399

Left-hander makes 201 off 210 balls to post strong total against Candyland

KARACHI: An unbeaten double century by Sami Aslam helped SBP post a high first-innings total of 399 runs against Candyland on the opening day of the second round of the Patron’s Trophy (Grade II) at the SBP Ground in Karachi on Monday.

Asked to bat first, SBP declared their first innings after posting 399-3 as 20-year-old Aslam struck a quick-fire double-century — 201 off 210 balls — to set up a 272-run partnership with Usman Salauddin (100 not out). At the end of play, Candyland were 36-4 in their first innings.

In another match, Omar Associates, who were playing against Pakistan Army, declared the innings on 334-6 after a 204-run second-wicket partnership between Danish Aziz (129) and Mohammad Waqas (125) put them in a strong position. At the end of play, Pakistan Army were batting on 52-1.

In the match between PTV and Navy, Mohammad Irfan scored an unbeaten century (115) to help PTV post 408-8 before declaring. Nasir Awais took six wickets, while his team were 93-0 at stumps.

At the Pindi Stadium, PIA’s Bilal Shah and Ali Imran Pasha took five and three wickets respectively to restrict Pakistan Oilfields Limited to 72 in their first innings. At the end of play, PIA were 258-6.

Meanwhile, a century by Rameez Raja Junior (117) helped K-Electric post 410 against Customs, who were 13-0 at stumps, while HEC’s Asfand Mehran scored 111 runs to help his side post 243 in their first innings against Khayabane Amin. At the end of play Khayabane Amin were 33-0.

In the other matches, Income Tax made 293 against Dollar East, who were batting on 9-0 at stumps, while in the match between Railway and KPT, Railway posted 360-9 in their first innings as KPT were 17-1 at stumps.

Service Industries, meanwhile, were dismissed on 126 by ZTBL, who were batting on 101-5 at the end of play, while in the match between CDA and Humak Engineering, the former made 310-8 in their first innings, while the latter were 15-2 at stumps.
