Women’s day: Govt pledges to protect women’s rights
Sen Parveen added the government wants to provide interest-free loans to women from marginalised segments of society

The government is preparing to celebrate the International Day of Women on March 8 with a firm pledge to protect the rights of women, said Senator Kalsoom Parveen of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Sen Parveen added the government wants to provide interest-free loans to women from marginalised segment of society through Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). She went on to say that the basic aim for the issuance of the said loans is to uplift the living standards of women in the country. These funds can be utilised to establish small businesses like poultry farming and dairy by the women in their homes, Kalsoom added. She said the government is also considering giving technical education to illiterate women to transform them into skilled workforce.
