Tug of war: Govt delays opening wheat centres
The farmers are being paid between Rs1,100 to Rs1,200 in the open market against the government rate of Rs1,300/40kg
HYDERABAD:
Wheat farmers have complained of exploitation as the Sindh government delays opening of official wheat procurement centres. Sindh Chamber of Agriculture demanded on Sunday that the Sindh food department should immediately open up the centres and supply gunny sacks to the growers. According to the chamber, the farmers are being paid between Rs1,100 to Rs1,200 in the open market against the government rate of Rs1,300 per 40kg.
