‘Talks on provision of gas to FATA in final stages’

Fata MNA Al Haj Shahji Gul Afridi has said political leaders have entered the final phase of talks with the authorities to provide gas to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

He was speaking at a meeting with a delegation of political leaders and members of FATA Lawyers Forum at his residence in Jamrud on Sunday.

“The provision of gas to the tribal belt will be given priority,” he said. According to Afridi, Fata’s problems will now be resolved as a new K-P governor had assumed public office.

“Jamrud Grid Station will be completed in April in Khyber Agency,” he said. “This will help reduce the power crisis faced by locals.”

Promise of change

The MNA said elders from the Kokikhel tribe had asked the government to stop development work on Regi Lalma Township and focus on resolving a  long-standing land dispute. “The matter will be resolved soon,” he added.

According to Afridi, the activities and development of National Sports Complex were ignored due to the lack of funds and interest shown by the former governor.

“I will also raise the issue of an investigation into development projects in Fata,” he added.

The delegation assured the MNA of their unstinted support in resolving the problems faced by Fata.
