FAISALABAD:

A man was killed and three others were injured in a house fire allegedly started by a brother of the deceased over a property dispute on Saturday.

A police spokesman told newsmen that Ghulam Murtaza, a resident of Chak 544-GB, had an old property dispute with his family members. He said the man visited the house and following an argument with 40-year-old Niaz, his brother, set the house alight.

He said Niaz died in the fire whereas Ghulam Mustafa, Noorul Hasan and Nasreen Bibi were shifted to a hospital from where they were referred to Faisalabad Allied Hospital with serious injuries. A Rescue 1122 team put out the fire after several hours.

Amjad Akram, a doctor on duty at the emergency ward of Allied Hospital told The Express Tribune the injured had also been attacked with acid.

“They are in intensive care,” he said.

The Garh SHO took the body in custody and constituted a team to find and arrest the suspect.
