ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ordered an interior ministry deputy secretary (DS) to appear before the court in every hearing of the bulletproof car case. An IHC bench comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Aamer Farooq directed the DS to ensure his presence at every hearing of the federal government’s appeal to withdraw the bulletproof car provided to the former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. The directions were issued in response to lawyer Taufiq Asif’s arguments. He said that the interior ministry had initially informed the former CJP about the security concerns and since then, it had never told him that the threat was over. His request to summon any officer from the ministry was accepted and the court put the official on notice.
