Minister for Power Muhammad Atif Khan has directed officials of the energy and power department to prepare short-term hydel power generation schemes to produce electricity at cheaper rates.
He issued these directives while chairing a review meeting of energy and power schemes in the provincial capital on Wednesday, stated a handout. It was also attended by Secretary for Energy and Power Naeem Khan. The meeting was briefed about new, ongoing and proposed projects in detail.
Atif said short-term hydel power generation schemes would develop the industrial sector and will help strengthen the economy of the country. The minister said poverty and unemployment could only be addressed through industrialisation in the province and for that it was mandatory to produce cheap electricity.
