Army chief reiterates support for Afghan reconciliation process
General Raheel meets Afghan president, top US defence leadership during Kabul stopover
Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday reiterated support for the Afghan reconciliation process.
“COAS reiterated whole hearted support to Afghan leadership for peace and stability in Afghanistan,” head of the military’s media wing Lt Gen Asim Bajwa said on Twitter.

The army chief’s statement came during his meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Kabul. General Raheel on his way back from Tajikistan made a brief stop over in Kabul to attend the change of command ceremony of Resolute Support Mission and hold meetings with the Afghan president, according to ISPR.
"Apart from attending change of command ceremony of Resolute Support Mission, COAS held meetings with Ghani at his Palace and separately with US Military leader, including CJS General Dunford, US Central Command (CENTCOM) General Lloyd J Austin and RSM Commander General Nicholson," Bajwa added.

"The meeting focused on discussions regarding regional security, border management and coordination of Shawal Operation to investigate terrorists trying to flee across border into Afghanistan," DG ISPR further said.
Further, Ghani acknowledged Pak Army’s efforts and achievemnts in war against terrorism and its role in bringing regional peace and stability.
