Accountability: CJP requested to act against corruption

He said religious scholars of all schools of thought should be approached to deliver a fatwa against corruption

LAHORE: The Tanzeem Ittehad-i-Ummat Pakistan has demanded that the chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) take effective steps against corruption in lower judiciary. Giving a 50-point accountability formula, Tanzeem chairman Ziaul Haq Naqshbandi told a press conference poor were denied justice due to corruption in the judiciary. He requested the CJP and high court chief justices to take appropriate steps for the dispensation of justice.  He said a board comprising religious scholars should be made to get guidelines on making laws for countering corruption. Religious scholars of all schools of thought should be approached to deliver a fatwa against corruption and in the favour of accountability. “For a strong accountability system, Islamic laws must be consulted.”
