Crackdown: PESCO arrests 50 for electricity theft in Risalpur

Electricity meters were removed from the properties of 38 people who owe Rs2.27 million to the power utility

At least 50 people involved in power theft were arrested during a campaign by Peshawar Electric Supply Company in Risalpur.

Haq during a press conference at his office on Sunday. He said a joint team of police and Pesco officials arrested power pilferers from Risalpur.

Electricity meters were removed from the properties of 38 people who owe Rs2.27 million to the power utility.

He pointed out raids were conducted in Ibrahim Koruna, Ahmadabad, Gulabad, Khosheki Payan, Zameenabad, Ajmer Korona and other areas.

The SDO said, “Traders in Risalpur Bazaar owe Rs0.7 million to Wapda. If they fail to pay their debts within the deadline given to them, their meters will [also] be removed.”

Haq said cases have been registered against defaulters at Risalpur police station and Nowshera Kalan police station under the Wapda act.
