Australian Awards South West Asia : ‘Empowering women benefits families’
The roundtable was attended by Pakistani entrepreneurs, peace activists

Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Margaret Adamson, stressed the importance of increasing women’s participation in economic growth during her speech at a roundtable discussion on ‘Entrepreneurship: A Path to Peace.’ The event was a part of the Australia Awards South West Asia programme, an initiative of the Australian Government. Australia Awards are prestigious awards provided to build skills and knowledge of individuals so that they can contribute to their country’s development and to support the ongoing development of links between Australia and its partner countries. “Women’s entrepreneurship and economic empowerment not only benefits women and their families but, also promotes peace and security by enhancing women’s voice in decision-making, leadership and peace-building,” said Adamson. The roundtable was attended by Pakistani entrepreneurs, peace activists, representatives of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Karachi Chamber of Commerce.
