
The car was escorting the minister’s children, in another car, to their school when the accident happened.
Witnesses said that the car carrying the minister’s children braked suddenly. The escort car at the back moved to a side to avoid crashing into it and ran into an electric pole on the sidewalk.
The driver, Riaz; a police officer, Muhammad Nawaz; and a private guard, Sibtain Shah was seriously injured.
SI Muhammad Sharif of the Services police post said that the guard, Shah, was critical on account of several head injuries. Nawaz, he said, had suffered a broken leg and a broken arm, while Riaz also sustained some injuries.
The minister’s children were unharmed in the accident.
Saleem Javed, a witness told The Express Tribune that the vehicles had been speeding, eventually becoming the cause of the accident.
Amir Chema, the Race Course police station SI, however, denied and maintained that the car had slipped accidently and that the drivers were not speeding.
He said that the minister’s staff officer, Captain Haleem, had soon arrived at the scene but refused to file a complaint.
