LAHORE:

Lahore High Court on Tuesday appointed secretaries of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) as members of the local commission formed a day before to check whether the provincial government was violating court’s stay order against the construction of the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) project within 200 feet of 11 heritage sites along the route.

The directive was issued by a division bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh. SCBA secretary Asad Manzoor Butt and LHCBA secretary Ahmad Qayyum were appointed to the local commission with the consent of the petitioner and the respondent. Earlier, the bench had twice issued stay orders against construction work for the project within 200 feet of heritage sites.
