KARACHI:

It has been a while since director- actor announced her upcoming film, a love story titled Tum Hi To Ho (THTH). However, filming for the project is finally complete and the Lollywood veteran is eyeing an Eidul Fitr release.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Sangeeta said the film is currently undergoing post-production. The movie that stars actors Danish Taimoor, Quratulain and Mathira among others has been shot at various locations in Karachi, Lahore and Murree.

Rumours suggest the cast and crew of THTH had to face a great deal of difficulty upstaging one particular shot in the harsh December weather in the northern areas of the country, which almost delayed the release of the film. The sequence was to be filmed with snowfall in the background. However, Sangeeta denied the hearsay, saying the project has been on schedule all throughout.

A diva of yesteryears, Sangeeta plans on leaving no stone unturned with the film that will see her return after a prolonged hiatus. She has already scheduled trips to Bangkok and Mumbai to ensure top quality work during the post-production process. When asked why she chose to work on the film abroad, she said, “There is nothing wrong in going to places that have the best of facilities.”

In an earlier interview, Sangeeta had mentioned that THTH will make use of the latest in film technology, so as to cater to evolved audiences of Pakistan. However, she was not able to elaborate and as of now, feels “nothing about the film is different”. She said, “The film is of the same standard as that of any other Pakistani film.”

She was also all praises for her actors, sharing that she is satisfied with the choices she made in terms of casting. “I am extremely satisfied with Danish and Mathira’s work, as well as that of Annie [Quratulain],” she said. Rumours had also suggested of an apparent fall out between Sangeeta and Mathira over the latter’s unacceptable work ethic. With the film done and dusted, Sangeeta no more wants to comment on the matter.

THTH’s Eid release might see the film compete with the highly-anticipated Bollywood release, Raees. Sangeeta feels she has nothing to worry and that the Shah Rukh Khan-Mahira Khan starrer will not affect the performance of her own film on the box office.

Raees, which boasts of Mahira’s Bollywood debut and Shah Rukh’s unmatched star power, is expected to receive a great deal of attention on both sides of the border. Sangeeta is confident that THTH will hold up against all competitors. “So what if Raees is releasing at the same time?” she quipped. “It does not really matter. I am absolutely certain that my film will be a hit this season,” said the director.

Faraz Khan | 8 years ago | Reply @Karachiite @Maliha With due respect to the lady, in the 90s, Sangeeta (along with a few others) was making marginally better trash cinema, it still was trash cinema though. The kind of movies that made audiences avoid Pakistani films altogether. While her "best" productions may have had a decent plot; they were ruined by over the top acting, terrible music and tawdry production values not to forget some distasteful skin show, for which Mathira has been hired now.
