Pakistani singer Atif Aslam was due to perform in Lucknow today (Sunday) but the city's district administration did not grant permission for the event.

The Lucknow district administration rejected a letter seeking permission for Atif Aslam's programme, Times of India reported. Somnath Adhikari, the organiser of the event, revealed that the programme was based on Indo-Pak friendship.

According to Nidhi Srivastava, the additional district magistrate, a police report submitted to the district administration suggested that a programme on de-addiction was slated to be held at the same venue.

"More than 30,000 persons would be attending the de-addiction programme," said the police report.

Nidhi further said that law and order doesn't allow to grant permission for another programme at the same venue.

"Once the de-addiction programme is over, he would again seek permission from the Lucknow district administration to host the programme," said Somnath.
