Bank heists: Two ‘robbers’ shot during police encounter

The group is believed to be behind this year’s first bank robbery and the others that followed

Police have claimed to identified the suspects behind all four bank heists since the start of this year. Two suspected robbers were killed in an encounter on Saturday, and one was taken into custody.


Farooq alias Choha, said to be the ring leader of notorious Tiger group involved in these robberies, and another suspect Imran alias Funter were gunned down during a shootout with the police in Korangi’s Bilal Colony area. Meanwhile, another suspect, identified as Asif, was arrested, said Special Investigation Unit’s SSP Farooq Awan during a press conference on Saturday.


Bank robberies: Three-member ‘gang’ apprehended

SSP Awan said that Farooq belongs to same group whose three members were apprehended on February 18 during a raid at Machhar Colony. The group is believed to be behind this year’s first bank robbery and the others that followed. Imran was arrested by Saudabad police on robber charges, however, he managed to escape, the SSP added.
