CHITRAL: Aawaz District Forum met on Friday at the South Asian Partnership Pakistan Chitral office to discuss the progress made on the presence of women in administrative and political roles. A large number of men and women were present at the discussion. Chitral Programme Manager Rubina presented the forum’s annual report. Rubina told participants, “Last year steps were taken for the welfare of residents of Ayun, Chitral and Koghazi.” She added, “Next year will be different.” She added minorities will also be focused on. Other women at the meeting said prosperity was incomplete without the presence of women in politics and administration. Speakers suggested the representation of women was still quite low in society, leaving them deprived of their most basic rights. They added there was a need to provide equal rights in the district. Aawaz, which is funded by UKAid through DFID, helps strengthen civil society.
