Maize seeds: USAID, PARC launch hybrid programme

The aim of the project is to enhance crop yield

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has launched bio-fortified maize hybrids programme to enhance nutrient maize production in the country. The aim of the project is to enhance crop yield besides increasing access to nutritious food to millions of people in the country.    Addressing the launching ceremony US Ambassador to Pakistan, David Hale said the new varieties of maize provided by USAID Agriculture Innovation Program was an effort to improve the production of quality hybrid maize seed in Pakistan. He said the maize seeds will benefit farmers and increase access to nutritious food to millions of Pakistanis. USAID mission director said US and Pakistan have been working together to strengthen Pakistan’s agriculture sector for the last fifty years.
