PESHAWAR: A police constable allegedly tried to kidnap a person who is transgender from her residence in Changarabad within the jurisdiction of Gulbahar police station on Wednesday.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Sameer, who goes by the name, Chocolate said six armed men barged into her house and tried to kidnap her. She said, “One of them was in police uniform and five others were civilians who were armed with pistols.”

Chocolate added, “The policeman introduced himself as Rameez and told me that I had to go with them to Sarband police station.” She added when she shouted for help and resisted, the assailants fled. But before leaving, they threatened her to call Rameez within an hour; otherwise she would be kidnapped.

No practical rights for the transgender in Pakistan

“I resisted and cried for help but they insulted me and warned me of dire consequences,” she added.

She said when she reached Gulbhar police station to register an FIR, the police declined to lodge a case and instead, filed a Roznamcha report – not an FIR.

An official of Gulbahar police station claimed investigation had been initiated and the Roznamcha would be converted into an FIR if evidence was found in the case.
