Demonstration: Residents organise rally

Residents of Tharparkar district organis a demonstration against recruitment of non-locals for coal project.

MITHI: Residents of Tharparkar district organised a demonstration and rally on Sunday to protest the recruitment of non-locals for a coal project.

Protesters marched from Kashmir roundabout to Karonjhar Hall, shouting slogans.

Bharoo Mal, Vijay Sharma, Obhayo Junejo and other leaders of the NGO, Voice of New Generation, said that 25 people were recruited for a gasification project and 20 of them were outsiders.

They threatened to organise a sit-in at Islamkot Town on January 20 if the appointment of all the non-locals was not cancelled.

They recalled government announcements of imparting technical training to the youth of Thar Desert and demanded the government fulfill their promises by opening technical training colleges in the region.
