LAHORE: Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued a notice to the federal government in connection with a petition challenging the sale of hotels owned by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) worldwide. Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafri, the petitioner, told the court that the government wanted to sell the hotels at throwaway rates. He said the government had not obtained the parliament’s consent on this account either. Jafri said the sale of the establishments would incur a huge loss on the national exchequer. He requested the court to direct the government to desist from selling the properties. Justice Shah directed the government to file a reply by March 8 following the conclusion of arguments.
