Development projects Rs40m for Chakwal village announced

Locals demand early completion of Neela interchange on Motorway

CHAKWAL: Minister for Housing and Urban Development Tanveer Aslam Malik has announced Rs40 million development projects for Chak Baqar Shah village of Chakwal.

Malik announced the development projects after inaugurating a new block at the Government Girls High School Chak Baqar Shah. The project has been completed at a cost of Rs11 million.

Malik said the boys middle school in the village would be upgraded. The provincial minister said a sports stadium will be established in the area at the cost of Rs2.5 million. Rs3 million have been allocated for a new water tank in Chak Baqar Shah while Rs15 million have been set aside for the water supply scheme in Dhok Mian Mehar. An amount of Rs2.5 million have been sanctioned for carpeting of roads and streets. Malik said the work on these projects would commence soon.

He said the government would overcome power shortage by 2018. He said the government was also working for provision of housing for low-income groups.

Meanwhile, the Neela interchange project on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway has been facing delays ever since the project was announced by former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in January 2013. Locals have demanded that the government complete the projects on a priority basis.
