A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) for the construction of the Kalabagh Dam on Monday.
The federal government, President Asif Ali Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Altaf Hussain and Asfandyar Wali supports this case.
The petitioner, Advocate Rana Ilamud Din Ghazi said that the Kalabagh Dam project will reduce the power burden and water shortage and is therefore vital for stability in the country.
He has requested the court to play its part in a project politicians have failed to put into implementation.
Advocate Ghazi has also asked the court to ensure the provision of fundamental rights to the people.
